Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a field of dentistry involved in treating malocclusion – simply speaking in straightening teeth. Its purpose is to improve the aesthetics of your smile, but also the occlusion functionality. Malocclusion constitutes a threat to the health of the masticatory system, causing intensified tooth decay, development of periodontal diseases (periodontitis) and diseases of temporomandibular joints. Orthodontic therapy is conducted both in children and adults. Generally, orthodontic braces can be divided into removable and permanent braces. The former are mostly used in children and their effectiveness depends mostly on the patient’s cooperation, in other words whether the braces are worn 16h/day. Permanent braces can be bonded on the labial surface or on the internal lingual parts of teeth (lingual braces). Permanent braces – depending on the material used for their manufacturing – can occur in metal or aesthetic versions (e.g. porcelain or single crystal).

A nice smile means not only healthy and white teeth, but also straight teeth.
